I kinda know what this is, just wondering if there is a way to estimate age.

We have records on the property going back to the 1800's.

There was an old farm house on the property that burnt down in the late 1800's and this was near the old foundation.

I did an image search and couldn't find another locket even similar to this one.

Is it possible that this was a hollow watch fob that split in half? Is there a hinge or signs that there was one?
Is that piece of chain fastened to the loop, as usually with a pendant/locket the chain would just passs through the loop.
-just a thought, could be wrong.

It was hinged together and fell apart really easily while I was handling it.
