Knife Blade?

I found what I believe to be a knife blade on the beach of Lingan Bay located in Cape Breton Nova Scotia Canada. It was about 6 inches deep under the sand and gavel. It is over 12 inches in length and is sliver where the build up has been removed. A magnet will stick and the metal detector showed sliver and iron on the screen. The rock in the picture was just odd and set my metal detector off for copper and iron, if anyone came across this before.

Thanks Duncan

Look's like a Knife Blade, esp it that's a Rivet Hole, It likely set yr detector off (in the Silver Range) cause it's so large.

As for the rock , it looks Cool & to my untrained eye 'A sharpening type Stone' & as to why it's setting yr detector off = No idea ... Are you in a area that's VERY mineral-ized especially with Iron? & any other rocks that size set the machine off?.

GOOD LUCK Up there. & Welcome to the Site.

Appears to be wrought iron. And could be a full-tang knife blade, or for some other strapping use, etc. With a little rust removed from the 'blade' area, you might be able to see if had a sharpened edge.
