Relic Hunting
Finally have a bit of time to write a post. In the last 3 weekends did a good number of hunts. Finds weren't abundant by I managed to get a few quality items.

My best find was my first Revolutionary War loyalist's button and not of just any regiment but that of King's Royal Regiment of New York (or Johnson's Royal Regiment of New York) raised in 1776, a very rare find. I have been hoping to stumble upon a loyalist button for a long while, just didn't dream hitting KRR right away. It looks pretty good, compared to other examples I've seen in the past.

An other unexpected find was this engraved gold ring. I rarely find gold on my fields so it was a welcome site to see it shine in the dirt. The age of it, didn't seem to match the usual period of the relics I find as the ring looked to be in a 100 years old range. With the help of engraved initials, I managed to trace the most probable descendant of its owner. It wasn't that hard,as it was the farmer that presently owns the land. The ring appears to have belonged to his great, great uncle Salem G. who died around 1940 I contacted the farmer by phone and later dropped the ring at his mail box. Glad I managed to recover a part of their family history.

Did find a few coins, some in a very good condition.

My best preserved Coronet Liberty Head 1816

4.jpg5.jpg

As well as my best Liberty Head 1854 That one is actually from a plowed field, it was sealed in some thick clay, thus the condition.

6.jpg7.jpg

Some more coins in the usual ''field's'' condition.

My first Great Britain Commerce 1814 Halfpenny

8.jpg9.jpg

And again, my first large penny from the Bank of Montreal 1842

10.jpg11.jpg

A few other coins

12.jpg12a.jpg

Managed to find an other Fur Trade period axe. A BIG one!

14.jpg15.jpg

Stone arrowhead (any ideas on the type?)

16.jpg

An other ''mystery'' pewter...I did find a few of them in the past, this time I might actually have ID'd it as I have found a book online that migh be of their Standing Orders. Seems to be of 1st Battalion of Volunteer Militia Rifles of Canada.

17a.jpg17b.jpg

A pretty beat 31st from around 1812

19.jpg

An other lion's head uniform piece

21.jpg

A few old complete bottles I stumbled upon in the woods

22.jpg24.jpg
23.jpg25.jpg

And a strange rock from the fields, any idea on the type?

Thanks for the comments.

WOW! That is freaking awesome! That would be the hunt of my life!

Very Very Nice!!! Congrats!!! Super Hunt!!! Congrats on return!!!

That looks like an AWESOME SPOT to hunt!!!

That arrowhead looks to be a woodland period triangular arrow point. They are quite common in late prehistoric sites on the east coast. Great finds, I love the buttons and good on ya for tracking down the ring' s rightful owner!

Man that is a ridiculous hunt, congrats on all the top shelf finds. And HONOURABLE MENTION for the ring return!

Great condition on those large cents . Kind of strange looking at them in such amazing condition . I've never really seen it before but the braided hair large cent bust looks like my friend Matt wearing a wig.... Sorry , went off on a tangent there . Anyway , amazing finds and kudos on the ring return. :occasion14:

Beauty of a rare Rev War button...condition is amazing
coins are really nice for out of the ground as always

Your gesture of giving back the ring to the family is admirable, well done!

Awesome finds. I never find coppers in that condition. Nice return...very admirable.

Very nice bunch of finds.
The KRR loyalist button is top notch.
The old coppers are in great shape
And nice job returning that gold ring.

Outstanding hunt! :notworthy:

Man your soil is kind to those coppers- beautiful coins- Congrats!

Thanks for the info NZ49er. It does look similar to late Woodland period point, similar to Levanna.
