I also posted this in the "What Is It " forum.
I found this coin today in a place where a Few guys have found several Large cents including my first large cent, but it doesn't seem to match any of the large cents I see in the book. Could this be a colonial or a King George copper? I realize there is not alot of detail, but I can see what looks like a male figure facing left and what looks like the Roman Numeral II at about the 1 o'clock position and the letter S at about the 11 o'clock position. The weight is 7.7 grams if that helps. The back is coroded and I can't see any detail on the back. I scanned both sides.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Ken

Ken, congrats on your second 1700 era coin in the past week!.. Posted on the whatisit forum that I agree it looks like a King George II copper, now whether it is a Brittania or a Hibernia is another matter, since the reverse shows nothing.

Don

Take it from a Brit - IT IS a King George II Halfpenny

KEN! :o Congrats!
