Found this coin today in an old field. Definitely not a large cent I was thinking possibly a king George. Can make out a right facing bust and a letter G. Is an inch in diameter. Can't really make out anything on back side. Also looking for advice on best way to clean it upper. Olive oil or warm peroxide? Looks more like a Hibernia Halfpenny to me. 1722-1724. I wouldn't try to clean that one as you might loose what little detail you have. Nice find

Thanks for the input. I was thinking one of the George III versions

Ok I soaked it in olive oil and have to agree with you all. I can clearly see the I followed by the dot above the head then the G. Thanks so much for the help. Never heard of this coin and I'm super stoked that I found an early 1700's coin. Does anyone have a sight that would provide me good info on the coin? Thanks so much again
