King Edward coin or pendant or maybe coin turned into a pendant

Size is the same as a American or Canadian 25 cent piece , looks to be silver but Im having troubles with the initials at the back side ,were they custom made from original quarter or was this just made like that ,thanks

It looks to be a Canadian 25 cents (might be 1908) that has been carved into a Love Token. The back originally looked like the pic below. I'm not the coin person, so we'll wait to hear from those who are.
