Kinda Neat Solid Brass Whatchacallit from 1800's Cellarhole Site

This old cellarhole back in the woods has given up some cool finds this summer. Some Indian Heads,Barber dime and a half real Spanish coin..No coins this time but this brass piece is interesting. My daughter says something to do with a door like a handle or pull of some sort and I'm thinking maybe a decorative piece like the top of a lamp...??
It is solid brass and the ring looks like it was pounded almost flat on the top edge. Thanks for takin a look and any ideas appreciated. Sometimes those WAG'S turn out to be the answer so feel free to throw them out there. Jerry
