I don't think this park has ever been detected. Ok I'm new at this. I got my detector for Christmas and only got 2 chances to use it before the new years deep freeze set in. I got my Garret Ace 250, my Garrett Carrot and, my Lesche and head out to my local generic park. Well the last 2 days have been really awesome. I found almost 5 dollars in clad and a sterling silver ring. I felt like how my brother used to say fishing in Minnesota was like. He was pulling in so many Walleye and Lunker Bass that he started to feel guilty. There were just so many of them, and they were huge! That's how I felt with my dirt fishin', digging so many holes, and of course filling them in, but every hit was a score. The grounds keeper came out and commented on how he liked that I was filling my holes, so he didn't have a problem with me being there. Now it seems I have a free pass to hunt this spot, so for the past 3 days I've hunted and most of my finds have been clad. I love how I'm getting to know my detector, how the signals tell the tale and how you can tell a good hit from a bad one. Once you get into that zone it's like second nature, and pinpointing is a dream with this machine.
So today I'm out again the ground is getting softer with every day the temperature goes up. We're at 55 degrees here in Central New York, downright balmy, and the Lesche is cutting through the soil like is driving through butter. I'm at a point where I only want to dig Quarters cause they're so cool to see pop out and I really have my pick here, but every signal is a digger though cause I got the fever and I just want to see whats next. So I'm working my way into right field and I get a hit, I don't even know what it is but it's a solid 2 way hit back and forth, back and forth. I dig it. About 6 inches down I see a silver sheen, really bright. I pull this ring out, but to me it looks like some costume jewelry.I don't give it a second glance. I put it in my pack and keep detecting. I detect for an hour more then head home. I clean the ring first and because this is the first time I found a ring it's pretty sweet. I don't care what it's worth, to me it's spectacular and I pulled it out of the ground. It's just an amazing thing. How long has it been there? Who lost it and how? Maybe it's nothing to a seasoned detectorist, but you all know that feeling, that rush you get. That's why you keep coming back, and that's why you love this hobby.
