Got together with some friends to hunt an old park. Early on I got a nice little 10K gold pendant. First gold of the year so I was already happy. A couple hours later I got a solid silver quarter signal, but it seemed like a longer than normal signal. While digging my hole I pinpointed it at 7" down so I dug underneath it and placed the dirt next to the plug. I seen what looked like a nice size silver ring in the dirt. After taking a pic, I picked it up and lightly brushed some dirt off and seen an eagle on each side. I also noticed a triangle on the top where something used to be. Running my pinpointer through the dirt I got another hit. It was the sterling insignia that goes on top. I was excited to have an old military ring! Before covering my hole I moved the coil over the spot only to hear another silver quarter signal. I widened the hole a little and at the same depth up came another big silver ring. This one is also old and has a neat design with a big red stone on top. Yep now I'm pretty jazzed! About 30 feet from there I nailed a 1927 merc. After that I shut off the machine and headed down to meet with the guys to go get some lunch. Two of us hunted a couple more hours after lunch. Turns out the ring is from the 3rd Armored Division. They began in WWII and fought in many famous battles. I plan to have the insignia put back on the ring. I sure like this find and hope you all do too.
