Hi everyone,

I found this a couple of days ago. I was at a site close to a river, and up the river, I was finding knapped quartz pieces but nothing else.

Down the river, there's a place where it's super eroded. It's also a really good place to set up an Indian campsite. I saw a tree that had fallen on the side of the river and under the tree, I saw this wonderful piece lying directly on the soil. After 4 months of periodically hunting for Indian artifacts, this is hands down my best find.

I would appreciate if anyone could give me more info on the biface itself (was it resharpened, is it made from chert, which historic period, etc..).

Thank you so much :notworthy:

Found in New-York.

It is like likely a preform. There may be several more of them close. Often pre forms were made and then cached to finish later.

Yes I haven't looked around much yet since I was about to leave the place when I found it. However, I'll make sure to look and dig at the top of the eroded area since it's most likely where it came from!
