I bought a 6” coil for my Nox hoping to breath some new life into some of my old sites. Decided to hit a site I’ve pounded with my stock coil that has loads of thick vines and roots that prevent effective swinging with the stock 11” coil.

First good signal in the roots.

Popped a copper. Enough detail to ID as a mid 1700’s KGII.

Then a smaller coin pops in another batch of vines.

2 Center, cool I have only found one of these 3 years ago and it was very toasty, this one is nice.

About 10’ away I’m swinging over what I assume is an ancient buried pipe about 20’ long leading to an old well. The pipe is a consistent 15, but the tiny coil rings up a tight 21/21 and only an inch down.

Hello, this is another nice one.

I also pulled a couple wheats from the crevices, but here are the old coins.

Got a pretty good consistent 10 and popped this thin, what appears to be sterling silver tube that has a subtle pattern. Could this be an old opium or cocaine straw?

Also found a strange topper or stopper, looks more modern, not sure what it is.

Found what I believe is my first lead bale seal. Seems like 2 pieces smashed together.

Awesome! I’d trade on of my Ben’s for a 2 center for sure. Nicely done. Those are beautiful

WOW! Those 2cent pieces are sweet!

Very nice finds thanks for sharing your two cents that stopper thing looks like it has quite a bit of writing around the top edge what does it say?

I love those two centers! I found a couple my very first year detecting but never again.

Nice two cent pieces, congrats on that.

I like the way you think, silver coke straw.

Nice finds,

Looks like the 6 inch is pulling its weight with those finds.

The item with the screw top and bottom was for a canteen.

Thx. I’ll have to do some more cleaning, but it appears to list a plethora of patent dates and locations.

Amazing how that coil sniffed those beauties out- Congrats!

Awesome old coppers and cool relics! :occasion14:

Thx Jeremy! You might be right on the ID, looks like the screw top style is common with some canteens I found on line after your tip. Thx!

Nice hunt Thad. A double 2 center day is not very common. I did it once, on back to back signals no less. Congrats on the KGII as well. And I agree, you got yourself a lead bale seal there.

Those two cent coins survived amazingly well! Incredible details! Those coins seem to come out looking pretty amazing much of the time. I still haven't found one yet but I certainly hope to. The Kg is awesome too.

Freakin great finds I wish there were spots like that by me. Those coins are really nice

One of those 2-centers is in GREAT shape! Wouldn't mind buying it. Keep me in mind, eh?

Thx! I haven’t sold any of my finds, but if I do I’ll keep you in mind.

Thx Steve! The KG was really caked with dirt. After rubbing on my jeans both sides had really nice details in the dirt. When I got home 3 hours later the edges and verdigris was flaking off, but I still had hope the detail would still be there, but alas another super wiped KG.

Thx! These 2 Centers were like chameleons when I cleaned the dirt off and they started drying out. They went from a really pleasant green, then very dark almost black splotches started appearing. I ended up applying a bit of mineral oil and it stabilized the coins and then decided to soak them in mineral oil for an hour. This brought them to a consistent dark green that stuck. I have had crazy color changes to some of my IHPs as well.

Thx Tommy!

Those are two pretty two centers! Congrats on the excellent finds :icon_thumleft:

By the way, your KG II is a "young head" variety, which puts it pre 1740. Compare the way the portrait is cut at the shoulder versus this "old head" type.

Great digs, man! I actually ended up getting another 6" coil not too long ago after selling off the first one. I really like it in the dense trash. That stocker sure kicks but though for an 11"dd!
