Hope the rubs help

Wish I could help with an ID on your cut coin but I'm clueless. Probably not silver because of the way you said it rang up.... still not uncommon to find a cut copper coin from time to time. Hopefully someone with a little more knowledge will be able to chime in with an ID. I found a cut copper once several years ago but it was half a coin... not 1/8 of one. Congrats on a great find.

Right it's cut exactly like a 2 pence would be off a reale

Awesome finds! Not sure what the cut coin is, wondering if it may be some sort of period counterfeit? I'm sure someone on here will know.

Thanks magnum I don't think it's a counterfeit I think it's an actual period coin that was cut for change or to purchase something, I'm lookin everywhere

cool finds :occasion14:... cut coin not silver :icon_scratch:

Nice variety of finds! I'll be checking back to see if anyone can ID that piece for you. I have no idea myself.

Nice cut copper. Can't wait to hear what it is

Hey Petrie502! I agree with all on the cut coin, certainly appears to be!! The Silver arrow head appears to be the main body of a old bass fishing lure called Hawaiian Wiggler, you can actually see the eye on it! Religious medal, Neat Dime, mill token-I think, Neat Tag!! CONGRATS on Your Finds!! GOOD HUNTING!! VERDE!!

<img src="http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=842880"/> 8-) 2 bits , nice

Counterfeiting was done "period times",likely more prevelant than a modern repro......

Could be a counterfeit, but I'd say the condition is more consistent with being a salt water find than a ctft.. Was it found in or near the water? Also, I think being cut gives it a better chance of being genuine.

Looking at your photos and to me it appears that is a cut piece of a Spanish Reales, not sure of demonination due to size issue in photos, but the D looks like it matches the positioning of the Bust side of a Carlous III or IIII era 4 or 8 Reales with the outline of the nose area near it, the Reverse looks like part of the crown, and both would match for positioning of a Reales. If it is, not being silver is not uncommon, a large percentage of them are counterfeits from that time period and would be debased silver or a high grade pewter. It looks like there was a design on the edge which also makes me think spanish silver.
You made a very nice find.....

As far as IP thinking it could be geniune, that is possible, cut coins tend to read much lower on detectors so your "nickel" range reading could be from it be in that shape. I have cut in half coppers that read much lower on the Explorer SE than a whole coin.
