This was a fun hunt. I was given the location of a cache of wheats within a 10 foot area that this guy just could not find.
It was full of garbage but the 4th hit we dug was right on the money ;)

This was a baseball card he stuck in there, too bad it didn't make it :(
Other finds that evening

and the 1943 silver nickel he let me have from the stash for finding it

I don't count it as my first silver because it is only 35% silver ;)
Best hunt I have had yet. HH,

No way dude, that nickel counts. It is almost worth as much as a 90% dime. I think it is like ..... $0.75 for nickel and $0.87 for a dime. Remember, size matters almost as much as % content. ;)

Congrats on all the great finds. HH.

Ok fine ;D I wanted it to be a mercury dime or something like that. O well. HH,

A silver nickel as your first silver is way cooler than a merc, it's pretty hard gettin' the date right on those suckers. I've gotten one silver nickel, as opposed to 7 buffaloes, and like 14 mercs. don't worry the god of speed'll show up !!

I thought that would get a raise out of someone. ;) LOL.

Any thoughts on the button? That looks pretty neat as well.

HH.

My first silver was a War Nickel too. I count it as silver, and it wasn't even found from the nickel. Two pennies were setting the detector off, but Thats small talk. This cache of pennies is more intresting. Any 1909 s V.D.B's in that cache? What a fun dig to dig ;D

Keep @ it and HH!!

He was 8 when he buried it and now he is older and knows his coins so now he is looking over them all for rare dates when he cleans them. If he finds any I will let you know ;D

Which one, the flat button or the naval button? I have no clue on what period they come from. I am sure PBK knows. Let me know if u need better or other side pics. HH,
Donny

Count it, it's still silver. Congrats!

Cool story, Dj and nice find. great that you could help him locate his cache.
