Hi all,
I haven't posted much over the past year as I had to have shoulder surgery last spring and it essentially took away my hunting (and golfing) season. I did manage to get out a few times before the calendar changed, and thanks to a location a friend gave me down here in Cape Cod, I managed a few keepers, but nothing like today.
As the weather was simply incredible, mid-to-upper 50's, I hooked up with my hunting partner down in Fall River, to hit a park we've done many times before with good success. The ground was diggable but frozen in some spots.
Within a few minutes of starting, I had an Indian and a nice 1913 Barber dime. Over the next couple of hours, I found another Indian, a 46 Rosie and a few wheats. Not long before we were going to call it a day, I got that sweet Minelab silver sound, pinpointing about 6 inches down, at the top of a hill. When I tried to push in my Lesche, it barely budged the ground, but I'm sure you'd all agree there was no way I was leaving without getting that coin. After I got the first 2 frozen inches out, the next chunk of soil, about 3 inches more and still frozen came out after much effort. Finally it was soft enough to dig and my X-1 screamed silver.
One more scoop, got it in my hand. Incredible 1921 SLQ! The date is ridiculously sharp, as anyone who knows this series can attest. Only problem is somehow I nicked it on the back, which the picture will show. Certainly will hurt the value, but I don't plan on giving it up anyway.
Supposed to be another decent day tomorrow, so we'll have go at it again down here.
Enjoy the pics and HH (to all who are still able!).
