Here's an item I found in west central Mississippi that has me stumped. It's brass or copper and measures 2'' in diameter. I had someone tell me that it looked like a kepi ventilator but I've never heard of such a thing. Could this be part of a kepi ventilator?? If not, what could it be? Thanks for any assistance.

Hopefully The Cannon Ball Guy will see it. I know that several years ago he verified that some Civil War soldiers had hat ventilators but did not have a picture of one. Maybe some pictures have surfaced since then. Good luck!

I posted one awhile back here. That is some sort of decorative piece, don't know what to but I sincerely doubt a kepi ventilator.

Hello Ripcon. I'm gonna say it's a "Victorian Drapery Tie Back Medallion" as Breezie indicates in the post below.

It's a stretch I know...thanks for the post and good luck out there. C9

It's too thin and plain to be a tie back. I could bend and break it easily, but you may be on the right track, though. I'm convinced now that it's not a kepi ventilator.

I was thinking it may be an 18thc drawer pull escutcheon plate, but it's almost too crude for that? :icon_scratch:
