I am hoping the pictures come out in order. If not:
1..Acquire 6 paint stir sticks, toilet seat bolt and non metalic epoxy. (Gorilla Glue works well too)
2. Tape sticks together.
3. Mark and drill 7/16" hole for bolt.
4. Apply targets with epoxy and label the sticks.
5. Put bolt through hole.
I use a zinc penny, nickel, dime, quarter, pull tab or pull ring, bottle cap. (face bottle cap away from sticks so it won't hang up)
The two spare sticks are so you can tape a temporary target to see where it reads and how it sounds. (the remaining ear-ring ?)
Now that you have completed your first one, use the second bolt that came in the package and make one that is more refined. Give the first one to your hunting buddy. Hope this helps.

Re: Kenley's Detector De-Lier

Truly an excellent idea.

It is posts like this that help everyone to improve their game.

Re: Kenley's Detector De-Lier

WOW what a great idea. :headbang: :hello2:

Re: Kenley's Detector De-Lier

Spook. What's your point?

To the rest of you guys...Thank you, I appreciate it.

Re: Kenley's Detector De-Lier

Your idea is good to the extent as Spooky said, it will work differently on the field. For a real beginner this will help a bit to adjust to certain tones, but once you are in a filed the sounds will change a bit.

For example: I went hunting yesterday and a quarter and a bottle top both had the same silver pitch, so do I dig or not :icon_scratch: The answer is yes, I dig, even if you are accustomed to a machine, they are not 100% accurate. So Spooky wasn't knocking you, he was just pointing out there will be a difference and I have the bottle tops and pull tabs to prove it :laughing9:

Re: Kenley's Detector De-Lier

Now we have two people that have never waved a coin under a coil to see what it sounds like.

If you read my post again, perhaps you will understand. No one was knocking you!!! This is good for a beginner, but the sound will still change somewhat on the field. I never said I haven't tried something like this either when I started. With all due respect, I suggest that you learn to read before replying.

If it's good, use it!
If it's not good, don't use it

Simple.

I think you missed the point.. Both Spooky and I didn't disagree with his idea because it IS helpful to a certain degree for a novice. I had also mentioned something along these lines many months back, although a little different it was the same principle and a few people told me about the same type of problem with my method. So yes, it's not a bad idea, but it does have its flaws. Or you can do what I do, after any idea I post, I just write a little disclaimer ;D

Re: Kenley's Detector De-Lier

That is a very cool idea :icon_thumright: :icon_thumleft:
I like it a lot.

Re: Kenley's Detector De-Lier

Awesome idea...I would approach some of the detector manufactures about selling this...or at least get a patent on it.

Re: Kenley's Detector De-Lier

Thanks Ron. I gave one to Raul at Kellyco and one to Sue at Garrett, and a few to friends, but that is as far as I have taken it. Kenley
