I was hunting in the surf at the beach yesterday when I found this necklace with two pendants. One is a dog tag looking item seemingly made of copper. The other is a very thin cross. The necklace is designed with a string tied at each end and through the pendants. Maybe to keep noise down? The Dog tag has something wrapped around the bottom, presumabley to keep it from scratching the skin.

Dog tag appears to say:

Am. Eagle
CANTEEN
Chug - A - Lug Ch??y
SUMMER 1977

Any ideas what this is for or from?

Thanks, Jack

My guess is that it is a prize from the Am. Eagle Canteen for Chug-a-lugging some drinks during the summer of 77 vacation break in Florida. I once won an Elbow Bender trophy in a New Orleans French Quarter bar during the Mardi Gras of 78 for drinking the most whiskeys. :P

have found the same necklace some decade later at a thrift store in Florida trying to find out more info lol, or maybe this is the same necklace?! Anyway it’s kinda cool just wondering what it means probably some old American eagle promotion? But chug a lug is a drinking term maybe it’s a contestants name in a drinking contest from the 70s?
