Was just reading this article on yahoo http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sidesho...in-collection-coinstar-machine-154615597.html

The poor guy was robbed and they just took his collection the the coinstar for just $450, then they tried to put his silver quarters in, but the machine wouldn't take them thank goodness.
They took the silver quarters to a bank. At least the guy was able to get his collection back, the bank is returning the quarters, and he was able to sort through the coinstar bin for his collection as I read here http://www.kptv.com/story/16456519/deputies-looking-for-corbett-chrismas-burglary-suspect

Don't let this happen to you guys, you might not be as lucky in getting them back!

I believe this has been posted here before. I do wonder if one could come up with a Coinstar machine that accepts silver also. It would probably need another coin comparitor inside. The ones out now have duel comparitors to accept both copper and zinc cents so why not duel comparitors to accept both clad and silver? Probably a ton more engineering. If one was out there or could be made, I would total try to start a coinstar-like business with it. ;D

One that rejects clad and gives 3x credit for silver. The 3x credit will attract people to bring in their silver for a quick and easy credit instead of sorting through it themselves...or taking it somewhere else.

I think Coinstar's machines are specifically engineered to reject silver, not that it is simply a design flaw that it doesn't accept it.

get one that accepts silver paying only face value * way to clean up

Back to the title of the Post....

Don't store your stash in those pathetic little safes that can be found and carried away !!!!!!!

If you stash your stash in a SHED in little 50lb safes isn't the outcome kind of PREDICTABLE ?!

If your container can be found it should weigh at least 1000 lbs.
If it can be carried away, it should be hidden from EVERYBODY.

And....figure out which of your family is really FAMILY.

The safest place to keep silver is behind closed lips.

Keep on Rollin'

I recommend a couple of large gun safes, bolted to a concrete slab. The finishing touch is a book hung in a bag over the dial handle: "U.S. Army manual on Boobytraps".
