I dont guess those things could be lettering or number punches could they? What do they look like on the pointed in? Are they all the same, no numbers, letters, figures etc???d2

Those look like teeth from a pipe threader.
Thats EXACTLY what it is. I havent even looked past the first pic 'cos I dont need to. Good ID.

Its a set to thread galvanized iron pipe. It comes 1", 1-1/4". 1-1/2", 2", 3", 4" and probably some others.

It takes four of those dies to cut the outside threads in rigid steel pipe. They look like numbering punches but they are dies. I have a set exactly like it with the same clip but its packed away deep in my warehouse somewhere.

Heres a set of dies but yours are smaller. threading dies.jpg

The dies go into this type of tool. I used to have a set. http://cgi.ebay.com/Ridgid-Die-Set-...itu=UCC&otn=5&ps=63&clkid=7032407413317666074

any ideas on the cast door?

No hinges or handle (at least nothing I can see) makes me think it's some kind of access door that wouldn't get opened and closed regularly. Maybe from a large furnace/boiler? Loosen the nut holding it in place, swivel it to one side, and you would have access to relight it. :dontknow:
