Can I ask where you are trading in your Prizm? Didn't know anyone let you trade in MD's....

Williams Coin and Jewelry in Webster, TX. We bought the Prizm II from them as well; it was a used rental detector, so it may be going back to that or they may just sell it outright again. At any rate, I thought it was a great detector for the price. I can't wait to step up to a little better one, though!

Not sure about the prism II but I have the last M6 model, and I love it. Easy to run and, basically turn on and off you go. I am hap that I can know buy all different types and sizes of coils for all different apps. I say go for it. You will love it too. Well let me know what you think, and good luck.

The transition from Prizm to M6 couldn't be any easier. The M6 will feel more substantial in your hands, so you may experience some muscle tiredness you didn't get with the much lighter Prizm. Having knobs, rather than push buttons, the M6 is quicker (for the most part) to set up. You'll get better depth from the M6 because the ground balance can be set. Proper ground balance is a key element of finding targets. The display is similar enough that you won't have any trouble identifying targets. Finally, a whole new world of coil selections has just opened up for you. Have a great time!

Thanks, a4wdguy. That helps a lot. I didn't realize that ground balance played such a big role... but I guess that depends on your soil conditions, right? Do you recommend manual ground balancing or using the M6's automatic ground balancing? White's seems pretty proud of it, though they say not to use it in really trashy areas.

The auto ground balancing works really well. You won't be disappointed. People will tell you the M6 is the best kept secret at Whites. I have one and love it.

Winston,As an M-6 user myself, I agree with ALL the above,Just an awesome machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God Bless Chris

Simpler yet better than the prizm, get some good volume adjustable hps
