Just ordered a new Fisher F2

Great detector, especially for the money. Easily the best "entry level" detector out there IMO. Congrats & enjoy!

I can't tell you how impressed I am with this thing, especially since it has found me over 10x's its cost in the 3 years I have swung it and it is only one of 3 different detectors I use.
Silver coins and older coins of all kinds, civil war relics, silver and gold jewelry and hundreds of dollars in clad plus so much more is my total so far and the great finds are still coming.

I have learned a lot about hunting with this great little unit, so much so it has been suggested to me many times I should gather up all the info in several posts I have on many forums and the rest of my knowledge and publish an E-Book on it's use...a real users guide.
The manual is just the basics and not really much there to learn at all, there so much more to know about the language and I have attempted to become fluent.

Here are just a few things and some info I have posted over here....

Here is a ridiculously long thread I started on another forum that started out as just a little review thread to put down my first impressions but is has grown way past that with tons of tips, techniques and info and basically most things I learned as I learned them plus input from many other users.
This thread has been responsible for sales of dozens and dozens of F2's according to the response and thanks I have gotten in thank you posts and PM'S.

3 years old and still running, 33 pages, over 1,300 posts and close to 90,000 views.
This can help you get over the initial learning curve a little faster if you care to take the time to go through it.
Funny name...Final impressions because that is what it was supposed to be but it really never ended...

F2...final impressions below,...... - Friendly Metal Detecting Forums

Thanks for the links. I really enjoyed watching your video. That medallion is "Our Lady of Guadalupe" --a popular pilgrimage for Mexican Catholics. A lot of Latinos wear that one.

According to FEDEX tracking, the F2 will be arriving tomorrow (Wednesday). Not bad for the free shipping option.

The Fisher F2 arrived today and I just stepped out the back door to make sure it works okay... on the dirt (yeah, couldn't resist). I found a penny in one sweep of the coil, literally. Zinc... but a penny. Tomorrow, I will try to take it for a hunt.

YEP! He's Hooked on THAT first find!

I've been detecting since the late 1980s, so, that is far from my first find. It was the first with the F2 though.

I went to Madison Lake briefly yesterday after work. It was cold (damp and windy). I was in too light a jacket, so, I did not stay long. I pulled up a few pull-tabs and foil. I was very happy to get in the warm car and crank the heater on my way home. I hope to get out today and do some detecting. I have been very busy lately and time is limited.

Mickey, yer gonna love that machine!! I too am from the old school of the Red Baron, White's XT,, ect. I will be the first to say the F2 is an amazing machine. Now as good as the machine is with the stock coil, take my advice and save some money for either the Fisher 11" DD coil or an after market DD. I have a NEL Sharpshooter coil on mine now, and it has made it a whole new machine!! Best of luck and congrats!!

I was looking at their coils. I might make the change after a little while. I want to get used to the machine before buying the add-on coil.

Mickey if I can help you with anything, let me know,,,you know I'm more than happy to help!!
