My name is Vickie & and due to unforseen circumstances life brought my way i lost my storage unit. all at one time my son who has epilepsy broke his ankle, my granddaughter was born premature and my grandmother passed away. My son & I had our life in a storage unit at North Pocono Self Storage in Gouldsboro/Thornhurst Pennsylvania. and it was auctioned off on Sunday October 13th, 2013 and it was my own fault due to lack of communication and my son is suffering due to this. He has epilepsy and all of his medical records, clothing and personal belongings were in there. I served as a Lieutenant in the Fire Dept during 9-11 and all of my memoribila from that day is in there. which is of no value to anyone else but me as a memory. my grandmother just passed away on 10-1-13 & all of my memories of her were in there as well as my dad who passed away in 1991 all of my childrens baby pictures and a painting that was made for my twins when they were born. Please im asking from the bottom of my heart if you bought this unit we will do anything to get most of it back and will gladly pay. i am disabled due to 9-11 and my paper work stating that is in there please contact me at [email protected] know this is a longshot but worth it to try thank you vickie

I hope you are able to find your belongings. My heart goes out to you.

Wow....thats alot to happen at one time.

My Parents are in the business of buying storage units and it usally takes 3-4 months before they actually auction it off. Have you tried to contact the facilty?

Reading this intially looked like a typical Craiglist Scam, with a horrible tradegy followed by another one.

Im sorry for all you are dealing with now.

Welcome to TreasureNet Vickie. Sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation,
All I can suggest at this time is hope whoever
purchased it has Screwples & tries to return your personal papers.

I can't imagine they would be of value to them,
and IF your address is the same it should be simple for them to contact you.

as for the 9-11 stuff, Many people still celeprate it every 9-11
so I wouldn't put too much hope there.
they may think it's Ebay-able

Perhaps put an add in the local paper up there also.

I'd recommend you place an ad on your local Craig's list and/or your local newspaper. It's unlikely anyone from out of your local area would have bought that storage unit. The auction or storage company should know the buyer. Leave your name and number with them and ask that they pass it along to whoever bought the unit so they can get in touch with you if they choose to. Good Luck.

The auctioneer would have a list of buyers.

They should, but they won't (or shouldn't) give out that list for legal and privacy reasons. Unless there was some sort of fraud involved, the new owners of the merchandise don't have to give up a thing, as they bought it fair and square under the terms of the lien sale auction. If I were they, I would contact twinsmom66 and offer the stuff with no value to me and then see what kind of deal can be made for anything else I didn't want to keep. All meetings would be at a busy public place and cash on the barrel. I wouldn't give them my full name or address either. So, twinsmom66, I wouldn't expect to get anything back that has resale value without offering them something in return. After all, the new owners had to shell out cash to buy your items.

I agree, i know they did nothing wrong at all and i am willing to work something out with them. My pictures and mine and my sons medical records are the most important thing they cant be replaced. I just hope to get in touch with them. The storage unit said hes from new jersey.

Did you ask if they would forward a note from you ?

that way it would still be up to the purchaser, If they wish to contact you.

They said they will play the middle man and that when he comes up next month he will return personal items they just called. But i am going to write a letter and ask them to forward it to him.

Twinsmom66, I'm very glad this is going to work out for you.
In your kind note, tell him thank you from us at t-net, we appreciate when folks do the right/kind thing.
Good luck with everything and stay in touch!

I would think your doctor would have copies of your medical records. Who stores their own medical records anyway? I don't think I have any of my own anywhere.....or ever have....

I have always kept a copy, my son has epilepsy and his original drs from 20 years ago arent there and moving from one state to another was easier having his medical records. I have mri copies and catscan copies and alot of people i know have copies of their own medical records. That was kinda cold.

Sorry, it wasn't meant to be. I just thought that if you needed info from your medical records right away, that your doctor should have a copy to provide to you. I know when I go there that they seem to have every bit of info on file, from when I last came in to what pills I'm taking to when I had the mumps as a kid. Even when I transfer to a new doctor or hospital, they're able to get those records transfered over pretty quickly. Maybe someone here can chime in to tell me why I would need a copy of them at home in this day and age. :dontknow:

With my sons medical condi

Due to my sons medical condition and numerous surgeries, I keep a record of everything concerning him, even my own personal notes. I dont know if you are familiar with epilepsy or seizures but it is a very detailed condition at times. So its important to keep all the records you can. Also being as I was injured during 9-11, there are many medical and important fire dept papers that i need for disability. I think to each is own.p But point being they were all in there and yes i can pay for them from the doctor again, but if this gentleman is returning our pictures i thought it wouldnt be too much to give our paperwork back as well.

I would think he would......they're worthless to him. Good Luck.

Welcome from Michigan!
