Detector(s) used
White's DFX 300 Sunray DX-1 probe/ XLT Sunray XL-1 probe
Guess I have been on here long enough and need to post my Mug. I am posting the equipment I use too because it is nice to see the stuff people use.

As soon as the snow melts for good I hope to find some keepers. Oh and any idea what headphones I should use with my XLT? I have had it for a few years now and never used headphones. Now I am looking for a pair but I can't make up my mind. There are few around $100 but I don't know the difference.
Thanks for the help. HH,
Donny

Update some new equipment ;D

Re: Just me

Donny, you have some cool stuff there! Now I'm thinking a microscope might be good for this hobby. I like the Gray Ghosts best, but any in the price range should have sturdy cords, plugs, headbands, and good ear cushions.Ear phones definitely help to hear those faint (and deep) signals.

Re: Just me

Hiya Donny,

Great to see ya! Best of luck MDing, looking forward to posts & pics of your finds. ;D

The "robot thing" is a stereoscopic microscope for looking a finds. and and don't worry about the headphones, I did get some, scroll up and you will see a recent picture of me and I am wearing them. HH,

Re: Just me

Umm, how does the microscope work? and can you show us a picture from it? Sorry this type of technology has not reached this country yet :'( But it does sound like a great idea.

God bless

Stereoscopy, stereoscopic imaging or 3-D (three-dimensional) imaging is any technique capable of recording three-dimensional visual information or creating the illusion of depth in an image. Stereoscopic microscopes usually offer a wide three-dimensional Field of view but are relatively low power in terms of magnification.
the one i have goes up to 70x and has 2 very bright lamps one under the viewing area and one above. this is to shine light up through an object that light can pass through or shine light down on objects that light can't pass through.I use it most of the time to look at coins.
Taking pictures through it aren't all that great because you can't put the camera up the both eyepieces to get the 3D effect.
but I can show you magnification.
This is a macrozoom from my camera of a winged liberty AKA Mercury dime

And this is a picture of it through one of the microscopes eyepieces

From this 3D view its easy to clean or see details of small things
I got it online at http://www.microscope-store.com/
its the Omano OMVx - 7.5x-70x Stereo, Zoom, Microscope
Hope this answers your questions

Donny

Looks like my equipment! I have a the DFX, the probe, use a MAC though, but it still looks like my Samsung T629. My microscope is gone though. Sent for my daughter and ex wife lost it. Ooooooo she lost it alright!!!! hahahahaha Thats why we are divorced.

Re: Just me(scroll down for added camera and microscope pics)

Hey Donny I've seen this pic of you out in the field before--(i actually took the pic lol) But thought that i would mention our plug covering skills;) --i know that since you,I,and another Tnet member hit this site we have dug one hundred plus signals and that's alot of holes, and i can not see the evidence of even one hole, divot and in one or two cases tunnels lmao.
Lets hope the snow melts soon so we can get out soon!!

Cool magnified Merc Pics!!! Our metallurgical lab where I work had some awesome stereooptic equipment and I've used it to check out coins. I never though to take a picture through it though.
