OK I understand the force of water an all that stuff moving boulders, However When I close my eyes and picture a hard rain hitting a mountein top,,I see water hitting the top/eroding the dirt and the lighter stuff rolling down the hill..I also see the water building up pressure/strength as it builds volume running downhill. Then I see the top of the mountain again with little or no volume other than a steady rain eroding the soil..And that! is where /why I believe the motherloads are....I am a Dreamer..Dan

Hey Dan….The rain and snow cause the exposed gold vein to release the gold a little at a time. The gold then starts it’s slow migration down hill. It may take a million years for it to reach a stream. As this gold migrates down hill it will fan out making an inverted V to the stream. Yes the gold vein is usually on the mountain but unless you follow the gold up hill to the source there is very little reward as the streams are the collection point…Art

One must also take into consideration our hills now used to be mountains and our landscape is quite different than it was a million years ago.You cant just say the gold is on the mountain. The Motherlode vein is half a state long and is not in a "mountain".
