We recently reviewed your account and noticed that you have a number of listings eligible for the Global Shipping Program that are currently not visible to buyers outside the US—precluding you from potential international sales.

We're making it easy for your eligible items to be sold to potential international buyers through the Global Shipping Program by overriding any country exclusion lists on your account. By overriding country exclusion lists, items eligible for sale through the Global Shipping Program will now be seen by millions more buyers.

Your country exclusion lists will still apply to items available to international buyers outside of the Global Shipping Program.

There's no action you need to take—we'll make all of your eligible items available for sale through the Global Shipping Program for you, starting April 17, 2014. If you'd like to keep your country exclusion lists in effect for items sold through the Global Shipping Program, please click here before April 11, 2014. You can review your country exclusion lists at any time by going to My eBay > Account > Site Preferences > Shipping Preferences.

They were just going to automatically going to start selling some of my items overseas. I had to exclude my self from their program. Hidden in the last paragraph is the word "here" I had to click on it to not be in the program.

I don't want to bother with my items going every which way. I know they have shipping points in the USA, but I get tired of them just coming up with ideas just to change things.

Got the same email. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I don't ship international due to past problems. I guess I'd consider it under their program but don't want to jump into it until they have a longer track record of success.

I tried it, had bad luck with it, and quit accepting it. Ebay naturally adds fees to the total sale price to pay for all the dicking around shipping stuff twice, customs fees, etc. Had 2 winning bidders in a row cancel due to the high total and one Canadian fellow was going to leave me negative feedback and accused ME of trying to screw him on the shipping because he didn't bother to read the fine print when he bid. After multiple messages back & forth explaining that Ebay added those fees he dropped the issue but he also refused to honor his bid. Second guy filed an "item not received" claim because the shipper I sent the item to lost it for a week or so... I don't need the hassle.

Ditto...while I never received this message from e-bay, I do exclude my sales from leaving the country, as I have had more than my share of hassles from doing so. While I realize that I do not move that many items, it just seems like it's another way of them grabbing every shiny little nickle that they can. I read somewhere that e-bay makes like $330.00 PER SECOND!! In fact, the very LAST item that somebody from outside the U.S. bought from me, e-bay stopped the sale and refunded the money as they said the sale met all criteria for being fraudulent. Ha ! thx all, happy selling..ddf

I have used the GSP several times with great success. I have shipped items to Greece, Italy, Germany without issue - and got prices for my items (foreign coins) that were well above what I would have gotten if I only sold in the US. Some people will hem and haw over the cost, but it's no secret. It shows them right on the screen what additional shipping and/or import charges they will be liable for. Many eBayers have "reading issues" but its no different then the people who neglect to see "no returns" "item for parts only" "doesn't work" etc etc etc.

It's like in detecting, you know what you find, but not what you miss. Any extra you charge always comes out of your pocket in one way or another, and I'm guessing you don't have a lot of experience as an International buyer? I do, so can tell you with coins being shipped in very thin packages, usually letters, they often slip through customs completely with no fee. Now taking that into account, along with the idea the vast majority of serious coin buyers (the people who you want bidding/buying) would know this, every fee they see on your page looks like a shipping charge.

Did I read that right no action need they will automatic change how you do business without you doing anything? Seems to be the way things are changing should be you have to do something if you want to change. Have seen that with voting to if you don't vote it is counted as a yes vote weather you get a ballot or not, they say things are getting better???

I would rather do it myself. I don't know why they are pushing this so much. I have had bad luck with it and have heard several bad stories about it. Some of the people have said that everything is good when you ship, but after some time has passed, you get a bill. I don't know how true this is, but for right now, I don't want anything to do with it.

You are forgetting one major point - GSP offers me international exposure that I would not otherwise have, creating a whole new market for my product. I do not feel comfortable shipping to many parts of the world on my own, this takes the worry out of the process for me. I offer rarer foreign coins, for example an early 1800's Greek Lepta that sold for approx $600 to a doctor in Greece. That coin would never have sold at that price if I only offered for sale in the US. There are limitations to the program, specifically the price imposed on the buyers, but if someone wants something bad enough, especially a rare coin, they seem to have no problem paying it.

Didn't we recently see an issue come up here where there was a problem with a transaction and the GSP people left the seller hung to dry. I can't remember what it was, but was left thinking it doesn't affer any better protection than the standard PP protection, and maybe even creates another way to get screwed.

Yes, if you were to shut out the rest of the world without having the plan, higher end foreign coins would certainly suffer.

I would actually consider for some packages, but don't think it works the way I would need it too. I'd want to use it to send overseas, but only some of my items, but the key is I would not want American buyers to be included. I suspect you either use it, or don't, and can't pick and choose what countries for a single listing. I never would have considered this before, but so many registered letters were not getting signed for Canada Post stopped them, completely! Now it's much more expensive and only worth getting tracking for something more valuable, but the catch is the insurance available is very low, so there's still some risk. If I could use it just for overseas I almost certainly would sign up given my current situation.

I will if I can find the letter. I knew you could opt out, but I didn't know how. Thanks!
