I just got my X705 today. Put it together, read the manual, did noise cancel, auto set ground bal. and tried it out in my driveway. Found to pennies. I think I am going to like this machine. I know time in the field will teach me much. However, I believe there is a lot learn from those who went before me - I don't have to re-invent the wheel. I will be going to my organized hunt in North Dakota in 3 weeks and would like any advise to help me get up speed for the hunt with this new machine. I have been detecting for about 15 years, own Garretts, Minelabs, Fishers, and Tesoros. My other land machine is a Explorer 2. I have switch to the X705 for weight reason as I have very bad nech and upper back problems. The water season is short here in Minnesota so will be trying to do as much of that as I can before the land hunt and the will reduce my time to practice with this new machine. All advise will be helpful and appriecated!

Sincerely,

Jim

i have the new 505 and all i can say is start with all metal and dig em up when i discrminate my wife comes up behind me and says heres 1 with her bounty hunter pioneer, lol good luck on the hunt

Learn those sounds the xterra is giving you. Plus auto ground balance. Krank up the audio nice and loud. Try your luck in all metal mode and also try preset modes. Plus look at numerics its important. Learn at what numbers all coins and jewlry hit at . Dig good targets and faint ones too. Good luck.

My favorite is AM with 99 tones. Hard at first but much easier when you learn it. Don't forget to noise cancel also. Usually when I go on our club hunts, (When coins are hidden by huntmaster) I will knock my sensitivity down to 14-16. Out on old homesteads I go with my favorite coil, (3KHz) it's a killer, (For me) on silver with AM and 99 tones. Good Luck.
