Welcome to TreasureNet, Louisa!

Your find is indeed a 1907 penny of Great Britain.

That is the first time I have seen a pencil rubbing of a coin. That is a great idea, i wonder if it will work on other unidentifiable coins?

Great find btw!!!

Welcome to TNet Louisa.Nice find and looking forward to seeing many more.

Thanks all
Kiros32, the rubbing should work on any unidentifiable coin if it has any raised surface but you have to use the side of the lead and not the point.
Went back out today in the same general location and our friend found a 1936 buffalo nickel. I got bored after dark and went out with a flashlight in my yard very close to that old road where I had been getting strong signals but dug oodles of spent rifle shells. I went ahead and decided to digem and found this 1890 indian head penny! This was up higher in elevation than the other finds.
