For those that looked at some of my collection this week.
I hope you don't think I'm too full of bull.

LOL!!! We know your not full of bull. Rained out I see.

Now how do you know that was a bull since the cows have horns too? Is there an obvious indicator?

i am not that peticular! I have another buffalo skull washing out of the creek that I found this morning. When the creek gets lower I'll have my grandkids over for the digging event.
Then we will compare the two and you can decide if it a female or a male. Sound like a deal?

I wish I knew how to tell. I suppose google will tell. The head must be obviously larger wouldn't you think?

My son-in-law raises buffalo. I will ask him if there is a way to tell the difference. The one in the creek looks larger than this one.

We are talking about buffalo skulls ! HELLO?

I also wonder if that skull since it is just the cap was a decoration. If I remember correctly they were commonly used that way. Can you tell if the one washing out is complete or not yet?

It looks like the one in the creek has part of the eye sockets. So I am thinking it will be a bit more complete than this one. This one the girls found and they said there were more bones there so I am sure it probably just died there and was not used by the Natives. This creek has deep sides and is not easy to cross. In fact we have the only crossing for many miles in which the pioneers were able to use.

Here is a picture of a spot I poke around looking for bottles as there is a draw where the settlers dumped their garbage up on top to the left.

Well that answers that! You sure have a beautiful site there! Good to see some moisture in the creek too.

Here is what it looks like sometimes.
This is our driveway. There is a bridge under there somewhere.

I am surprised there would be that much ice in any of the creeks up there. Looks like it jammed things up pretty good.

Be sure to take a few picks when you and the grandkids dig out the buffalo skull will you?

I looked at that link. Says shipping weight 2.5 pounds - Does a large Buffalo Skull, with box & wrapping, etc only weigh 2.5 pouinds?

I highly doubt it. I just weighed European deer mount of mine and it was about 2.5 Them buffalo skulls are really pretty darn big compared.

i have never seen one that was not any more than the picture ....
......since they seem to detatch over time at the lower mandibles.....i hope i am making sense......since i only make sense less than half the time anyhow

Buffalo ''cow'' horns tend to curve upwards more readily. Buffalo ''bull'' horns have a larger horn core and tend to grow straight out before curving up. Hope this helps, but what do I know!
