We were cleaning up scrap from the old homestead. There was a partially crushed watering trough that needed attention.
My wife found this rock in it. I’m guessing someone found it years ago and dropped it in the trough. It weighs just under 1 pound (15.34 oz). It is the largest chunk of jasper that I’ve seen locally.

Maybe not exciting to many folks, but I’m a true Rock Nut. I thought it was great.

Oldowan generally refers to tools from Ancient Africa: 2 million years ago. I’m in Iowa.
This is actually flint, like you said, but jasper is a gemologist term for certain flints.
I’m not seeing this as a tool, but I did think it may have had a flake struck from it.
