My huntin' buddy called me at 4pm today and said " I got us permission to hunt in a freshly plowed and rained on field! But, we can only hunt it today. Are you able to go?"
I said sure, I'll meet you there at 5:15 to give you time to get there after work(I got off at noon).
Well, we hit the field and had walked maybe 100 yds when my buddy said we better head for the trucks. I looked across the field and there was a wall of rain heading our way! We just made it before the downpour hit! And, it didn't let up! I finally left the field after sitting there, hoping it would stop, for almost an hour.
I drove 1/2 mile down the road and the pavement was bone dry! I had to turn around and drive back to make sure it was still raining, and it was!
Now, we have a plowed and twice rained on field that we can't hunt! The owner is a little ecentric and when he says yes we have to take advantage of the opportunity. But, when he says no we don't even think about driving down the main road beside the field!
In the short walk I found two brokes and there were flakes everywhere. This is the same field that I found a Dalton base in and next to the field that I found several real nice points in.
Well, at least he is getting some good rain.

Georgia, field, and rain-get back now. If not I'm going there tommorow. Big brother told me where you were hunting. :icon_pirat:

Man, you don't know how bad I want to get back in that field but, if I ever want to hunt on this property again I have to respect the owners wishes. One good thing is there are very few people allowed to hunt this site and I am fortunate to be one of them.
Here are the two brokes I found.

Permission is paramount. I meant nothing other. Get back as soon as you can and allowed. Treasures await!

Evidently, my luck wasn't all bad. When I emptied my pocket change out last night I found a 1901 Indian Head penny in very good shape.

It's crazy sometimes how you can only hunt at certain times. I tell the farmers if I step on any of the crop I will buy the whole thing. It makes me very careful and they know I will not trample their fields. Hope you can get back there next year. That's great on the I.H. I love finding them and have a bunch like the old buffalo nickles also

Good luck!
