Juicing up gain on old garrett ads 7

Hello all
New to site but been detecting since 1980. Years ago I bought a ads from a club member that he boosted the gain, it would hit a quarter at 10+ he is no longer with us and I would like to get another ads 7 and trick it out but not sure what he did, my guess was there was a pot inside he adjusted, any ideas?

There's one advertised on Ebay for $250, there are members that have a great knowledge on different machines and the workings.

I seen it, I m trying to find one with the arm cup, they are heavy and I m not young now, they will ware you out compared to today's detectors, and the battery packs are hard to find too, I had one years ago that was tricked out somehow and I was thinking maybe I could open it up and figure it out, I have done this with the tesoros, thanks I will check the garrett thread.
