Judging distances in a photograph

I have an old photograph of a small shed, which is no longer standing, and I was wondering if anyone knew any reliable techniques of judging distance in a photograph. I'd like to get within a 15ft radius of this shed. I tried matching where the photographer was standing but I still can't seem to tell a distance.

PS. The photo is a low quality black and white image.

Stand where the photographer stood...place flag there....then walk to where a landmark is....another flag ...are you with me? Its really hard to tell by not seeing the actual photo....mark it off by steps....like a grid pattern ....post flags next to identifying landmarks.....
like a large tree or background item in the photo...count off steps to how far that is to your desired point..

Your idea won't work, there weren't any trees around the landmark nor was there anything to judge the distance (except for a house which I currently live in) and this house wasn't very close to the shed.

Thanks for the idea, though.
