I just started out, too. I researched the web --this forum helped a LOT-- and picked the Garrett 250 also. I've been having a ball with it. I actually have a pair of blisters in the middle of my right palm from pushing a garden trowel into the ground (Honest! That's really what they're from! :P)

I'm enjoying it so much, I'm already trying to decide on a top-of-the-line machine for the future. Gotta spend that tax return and help fuel the economy!

Good luck with the 250! Great feedback at this site also convinced me to buy 2 ACE 250's for myself and the kids. Only had them a couple of weeks now and find them well worth the money. Won't be long before all of us newbs are giving advice on the 250. lol Happy Hunting. Steve

because of all the rain we've been having i havent had the time with the 250 that i would have liked to.
ive only had time in my yard,and so far ive found a crushed pepsi can at 6inches that my BH missed.
the can gave a good tone and said it was a dime....still got some learning to do!
