john s potter books robert marx books

Every shipwreck explorer in the world has a copy of those books. The locations are general areas more than exact pinpoint locations on most of it. Great books, but not rare and definitely not filled with exact locations of galleons full of precious metals. As a diver, you should have a copy though....when you head to Caymen or French Polynesia to dive ou can see what might be around there. :-)

Enjoy them, they are well researched and full of interesting knowledge.

Thanks for the info. In one of his books there is a ship close to where i live. Is it worth the time and recources to research the exact location and claim it? or has someone already claimed it for themselves already.

That would just require more research. In my opinion, any lead close to home is worth following up on...just make sure you learn the local laws so you don't incriminate yourself. :-) If the ship was carrying valuable cargo and has not been found and claimed, then you bet its worth the effort. You don't know unitl you try, and if Potter or Marx said there was a treasure wreck near me, I'd definitely be looking into it. If you offer more details about the area and wreck, people here can likely tell you more about it.

I dont know much more about it... I do not own the books...need to buy them...but thanks for the info! Good luck in your treasure hunts!!

The treasure in my Potter is an autograph from Art McKee.

The treasure in my Potter is a letter he wrote to me 20 years ago saying, in part: "Before making any investment in these wrecks, I would definitely try to get someone to make a thorough research."

Divemaster, no doubt many of the referenced wrecks have been found. (You can cross of the Capitana -1654- on page 196, we found it.) Enjoy the experience of researching 'your' wreck to obtain the answers to your questions.
Don...

Thank you so much for the info...so there really is no list that states what is found and who claimed it?

In a word, 'No'. And as you might imagine there are several (no need to state here) reasons why wrecks found, or currently being salvaged, may not be (or become) 'public knowledge'. Then there are others who falsely claim what they have found; again, for various reasons they make such claims.
Knowledge, through research and experience, is your best asset.
As Marx says: "Treasure is trouble"; I can attest to that.

Don.....

Thanks Don. Im new at this and i found a wreck close to my house in one of the books, i am about to research it...but if its already claimed, i dont want to waste my time
