I recently purchased a lot of coins (and a little bit of paper currency) in a Mason jar at Goodwill. I know absolutely nothing about coins. After some research, most of the coins are foreign currency. The most interesting are some late 50s, early 60s British Honduras 1 and 5 cent coins. However, I did find a presidential token of John Adams. The weirdest thing about the coin in the fact that the back has information about James Monroe, not John Adams. I've tried to Google it, but I've found nothing. Does anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

The problem is it looks like a cheap modern token so would find it hard to believe there's enough collecting base to care about such an error. But keep going until you have an answer.

Here are the fronts and backs of both the Adams and Monroe coins. What I have is definitely the front of Adams and the back of Monroe. I understand that these might not be highly sought after or anything. It's more or less just curiosity. My curiosity cost me $20 when I bought the jar of coins.

Like I said, I got the coin in a Mason jar full of coins. All the coins seem legit. I'm not sure how I would know if it's a trick coin or not. I'm not even sure what kind of trick that would be. By the way, I put it up on ebay. I'm not really sure what to do with it. I could take it to a local coin shop, but they'll probably want to charge for an appraisal. Hopefully I can sell it and get the money back that I spent on the jar. There are a couple hundred other coins that I find much more fascinating. If this one could pay for the lot, then that would be awesome. I didn't have the $20 to spend anyways, with it being the holidays and all.

Sounds like a plan!

I believe this is from a series issued by Reader's Digest back in the day.
You might contact them with these pics and ask if they have an explanation--or want to buy it back.
Don........

You nailed it I found five or six of these in a yard a few months ago .
