Hello fellow t-netters! I rarely ever post and when I do it is under Fast Dave's name. Today I found such a dandy ring I felt compelled to share the discovery. I was detecting a sandy area of a lake in Northern Wisconsin today in the wind and rain and I got the usual pull tab signal on my White's Spectrum xlt. My girlfriend said the water was down a bit due to a few low water years. The dept was four and a half inches. As you can see, I dug a ring and figured it must be fake. Until today I haven't found a diamond ring. But what a ring! Here is what I know so far: the diamonds are real, the center diamond is three quarters of a karat, the cut of the stone is older, the setting is older and I am going to have the ring appraised by a professional next week. I am ecstatic over this find! As soon as I find out what the appraisal is, I will share that too. Good luck everybody and take care! Jim.

Re: Jim D in MN-What a beautiful ring!

Jim, nice find. If its like the 3/4 caret I found last year, and it looks similar to mine its should easily be worth around 5300.00.

I found mine in a lake also, maybe grab up a magnifier and see if there's a number on the girdle of the ring. ( its on the edge of the diamond right below the top along the side.)

The lab number will give its grading. No graded numbers can be traced to the owners as the diamonds are graded and sent out to jewelers in bulk. The apparsial will do police checks and take pics of the stone and give a nice description on the paperwork. Costs about 90.00 around Iowa where I'm at to get it done.

Again nice find!

Re: Jim D in MN-What a beautiful ring!

Thanks for the suggestion 3 qtr, but it's no go on this ring. It may just be due to the age of the ring.

Ok, just a thought. Nice color, hope it grades high!

See ya later.

Re: Jim D in MN-What a beautiful ring!11/15 new pics and appraisal!

Hi folks. The appraisal for the ring I found on Oct.24th is here. I'm just getting around to posting it now. The appraisal turned out to be really good! I couldn't be happier with it. This is the most valuable article I have ever found in eighteen years of metal detecting. I don't know if I will ever top this one! Good luck to all and happy hunting everybody. Jim D.

GEEZ, I just logged on and just saw the Appraisal, Holy Crap!

Well, I better go get another one done on my 3/4 ring I found last year, as Gold has gone up quite a bit since I had it appraised, nice to see hard work paying off.

If you don't go, you don't get. Proof there's Gold and Treasure if you just look for it.

Nice going Jim!

:hello2: :icon_thumright: :o

Wow, that is a beauty.

OMG, Congrats again!!! Chug
