MIZPAH is mentioned for the first time in the Bible ( Genesis 31, around 1800 BC) as a powerful watchword, when Jacob and Laban agree at Gilead to a godsent peace. They built a memento of stone and named it like their wise covenant MIZPAH, saying: The Lord watch between me and thee when we are absent one from another. Mizpah of Gilead became the “blueprint” for more places called MIZPAH in the Scriptures.

I have yet to find anything about this particular coin / token. It is very thin copper or brass with MIZPA and the silhouette of an older man with some sort of hat on. It was found on a old road bed that dates from early 1700's to 1900's? PLEASE HELP!!. It is so thin that the same image on the front is the same on the back in reverse.

I believe this is a brooch with the image of a man and a woman. It has what looks like solder on the reverse side. Could not find one anywhere besides ebay.

Hope this helps...!

Searcher, thank you very much, ;D ;DI just started cleaning it last night and noticed the image of the woman. Now if I could just have this particular piece tied to a date and what it belonged to I'd be set.
