Tenderfoot
Greetings,
I come from the Czech Republic, Central Europe, and I have already exhausted all possibilities regarding what this object might be in our territory. I submitted this item to our regional museum, where it was consulted with experts at the national museum. It was later determined with uncertain probability that it is a piece of metalwork from the late Roman period. This is not certain, and the experts did not all agree unanimously. No similar object is found in the collections, so I started to investigate on my own. It occurred to me to look in other countries, and I thought of turning to you.
Is it a piece of jewelry, ending of celebration chain, bookbinding, or a clothing clasp? It is made of bronze or bras and is gilded. According to the experts, the colored stone might be glass, considering its poor condition. On the other side, there is part of a hinge, meaning that the object was part of something else. The imagination is vast, but this is not something you come across every day, which is why I feel compelled to continue searching for the significance of this object. I would be very grateful for any useful comments, even though this object comes from Central Europe. But the paths of history are intricate and often random, so I am trying this approach.
Best regards and thank you,
