G.A.P I seen this post hanging around here for a bit.. Have you had anyone from Japan read out that makers mark too you? I know quite a bit about American colonial and late 18th and 19th century pottery and have seen 1000s of pottery made from Japan. I do not know if you want a value on this or maybe determine that this is a late 18th or early 19th century piece or you just want to know the makers mark? You said someone told you this was from the 17th century and whoever told you that should know who that makers mark is. What other info did they give you?

it belongs to a friend so i will ask him more questions about who told him what.i think he wants to know the makers mark and age, worth.
Thanks Gary

GAP this is a very nice crafted piece indeed personally I do not think this is from the 17th century but more into the late late 18th or 19th century. I won't even put a value on this til that mark is IDed.. I will shoot a email over to a friend of mine who will be able too tell what those symbols mean and possibly be able to ID it for you but if you talk to you're friend ask him more details about who and why someone said this was 17th century, Japan pottery can be lot harder too study and ID than American pottery it is very tricky unless you are from Japan and know lot about it.

You might check out this site Japanese porcelain marks . I just did a quick scan through and didn't find that mark. However, most of the marks they do show are 19th and 20th century. You might find some good links there though.

GAP anyway you can get a better close up picture of the pottery?? I'd like too zoom in on the decoration part! thank you!
