(Japanese?) Box for $5

Picked this up for $5 at a charity sale today... no clue what it really is, the seller said it was Japanese and really old. Anyone know anything about it?

Oooh, ok, now I see it!

I really didn't think it looked Japanese, but the seller told me that her grandmother brought it back from a trip to Japan!

Any idea on age?/Value?

You need to look it over very closely... repeat, very closely. The problem with capodimonte is that it chips and breaks so easily. That is why I always refer to it as "crapodimonte". I usually avoid it like the plague but I have bought a few pieces before, including a couple ashtrays yesterday. Price is modest around $20 or so, if there are no damages.
