I'm at 6000', watching snow fall as I write this. Probably only a few " today, and should warm a bit over the next few. Not much fun digging in frozen ground; think I need drive down the hill for some detecting. Sure glad I have good snow tires and AWD...

I'm hoping to find some thawed ground this weekend, here in Ohio.

here in indy, when it's warm it is raining

WV is muddy today but we have a break in the rain. Going to try and do some muddy digging.

Going to be in the 40's and 50's by the middle to end of next week, and above freezing at night, and NO rain, should be able to get out a couple days for sure!!

What about using Mapp gas to thaw the ground on good targets?

Hey Coop,

Looks like the thaw is finally here. I might try to go out sunday morning.

Good Luck.

Pete

I hit a school today, wood chips and soil still froze in places, after 3 to 4 inches. Trying the sand Sunday(beach). I just know my plowed field/home sites is a muddy mess, we had a lot of rain! HH Pete

Went out today at some old home sites. Found a ww2 era U.S. lapel button, a small toy spoon, and a toasted red goose shoe token from the 50s. No silver or any coinage. The shoe token was half gone, the only words that were showing were premium and shoes. Too bad, would have been a nice find...

Yea it is a muddy mess. I hit the nearby school that I have pounded the last few years and only found $1 in clad but at least I got one wheat.

It was good to get out - but might be a couple of months before I get another chance, since next weekend looks freezing again.

got me a wheatie today too

I went out to a fresh water beach and found $1.40 in clad, first for the year:coinbag: Freeze line was about 4 inches down. I got to talking to a dog walker who told me he lost his class ring 7 years ago in the lake at a spot I'm pretty sure no one would of went over, unfortunately it was in the water under 3 feet of water and 6 inches of ice. I told him I'd return it if I find it so I have something to look for come spring.

It was very cold in Connecticut and warming up a bit, a lot of rain, but it was get cold again. February is the coldest month of the year for us. Good hunting and good luck.

Everyday I have had off the past few weeks it has been raining. Havent been able to try my new detector.
