It’s been cold out, and a bit busy for me, so the hunts have been limited. Nonetheless, there is no way in hell I was going to sit during the winter without 2008’s first silver coins in the bag. Earlier in the month I hunted with Tom and Joe and managed a silver ring and well towards the end in a desperate bid not to go home skunked, went back to a really small park that had spit out a Rosie. I was lucky enough to find another. This past Saturday I headed towards another small park that Tom and I have worked over pretty well, just to get to scratch the itch, not really expecting to find anything. Stuck and camouflaged right next to and under a root appeared a silver quarter which probably took me the longest to extract of all coins I have dug. Were it not for video editing, you guys would probably fall asleep watching me trying to find that thing. After finding it, my suspicions as to why it was still there were somewhat confirmed. Photo of the Rosie and ring attached, the quarter you’ll see in the video which shows the only two times I've managed to be filming as a silver coin is being dug. Everything else in the past for me has either been a wheat popping out or I had the camera sitting too far out from where I was digging.

Great going on the silver Ricardo, and in the winter at that. Thanks for sharing.

Nice Video.

What kind of digger do you use? Just curious as I really need to upgrade mine. I have always used the cheapie garden type specials but they do not last.

Happy Hunting,

EXCELLENT VIDEO! I'd love to film one of my housesite hunts sometime, but all my buddies would rather be digging than filming LOL. Oh well...

Nice work, buddy.

Yo dude! NICE video :) great dig on the silver! Hey, I think I recognize that park :D

Hey, I just picked up a digital vid cam on ebay (same one I had that died) for $65 (a $500 cam when I got it :) ). Just got it today and I'm charging up the battery. I'm ready to start video taping :)

Thanks Joe :) You know where I was buddy :) That little place brings out a suprise here and there. The only strange thing about it is that everything is near the school side, and not the other. I'm certain there is more. That was right across from the kids playground in that area Tom and I have worked. I need a real video camera myself. I'm working with a Sony Cybershot cam that eats away at those megabytes really quick, even with a 2 gig and 1 gig stick.

Would love to see you capture some more silver on video Joe. You did a great job getting the action on film as it happened with those last two videos.

That's a good video, Ricardo. Great that you could get a silver quarter dig on video. I've never gotten one on vid yet. Just mercs, rosies, and the Walker a couple weeks back.

Congrats on all your '08 silvers.

Great video and choice of music Rick.I still find it incredable that a silver Quarter can be found in pretty small area that we have both pounded to death. You are again a paragon of persistance and it paid off again.

I dig the video and the silver. I keep telling myself I'm going to try it someday. Looks like your pretty sharp with the editing also. I'm afraid my video would stink if I tried to make one. Maybe I'll get the notion one day to give it a try. Very inspiring.... Thanks

Great going on the video I know that took alot of time making but well worth it ;D

Great catching a quarter on film like Dan said were yet to do that!

What editor were you using???

Liked the video also. I have to learn to do that.

I bought the same digger at Lowes. I really don't like it. It is almost a great digger but I find it to be too short and that handle at the top tends to dig into my palm if I am not wearing glove. If they would make a version just a couple of inches longer, it would be great. I am going to try to modify that flared portion a the end of the handle and see if I can remove it and maybe add some length to the whole thing. I will let you know what I come up with.

A combination of Ulead Video Studio and Cyberlink Power Director. I like to extract segments using Ulead. It's much easier. I do the rest in Power Director.

thanks for chasing away the winter blues! nice job

I would take a serious look at a pinpointer. It helps a ton.
