James Monore token & Merc pendant?

This may be a Shell Oil Co. 'Mr. President Game' token that was issued in the 1960's but I'm not sure. The ones I've found on ebay are aluminum and different, but if the guy at this Cointalk link is correct it may be one of the brass issues given out after the first game board was completed. http://www.cointalk.com/forum/t47360/
The GW token on the link looks like it was part of the same series. Width is 26 mm or just a tad larger than a quarter, weight 4.9 grams.
Obverse: 5TH PRESIDENT U.S.A.- 1817-1825- JAMES MONORE. Reverse outside: THE LAST COCKED HAT - MONORE DOCTRINE inside- Soldier of Revolution Minister to France, Governor of Virginia, Secretary of War, Secretary of State, Purchased Florida from Spain, Era of Good Feelings
Anyone familiar with this token and can date it?

I'm 95% certain that the Merc is real. Has anyone ever seen one of these before. Pendant?
Thanks, Gary

I don't know about the token, it looks older than the '60s to me by the patina. In that pic, the merc sure does look like a mediocre cast rather than the real deal.

Your right about the Merc. I meant to say it isn't real.

I've got a few of those tokens as well. Found two at the same site actually. I think your ID from the 60's is correct because they go all the way up to Kennedy. I found the U. S. Grant, The Andrew Johnson, and the William Taft ones.

I have a few of those tokens as well. There are two different brass sets. The Washington in your link is from the same set as my Lincoln. (all the pics are not mine)

Re: James Monore token & Merc pendant?

Thanks guys for the info and pics. The ground where this token was found is mostly red clay and it's tough on wheats. I'll have to say that I was surprised and excited when I first dug it up.

Here are some more presidents. There are 2 different presidential series. Looking at these pics you will see that the 2 Tylers (top left and bottom right) have the dates on a second line (like yours) and the other 2 do not. I believe yours is the older set.

Im sorry, I do not know the dates or the reason for the series. You may keep searching presidential tokens, series, games,...etc, until you find the oldest president of your type.

Here is almost a complete set of the other type. (not the type you have) It seems to end with Johnson.

Re: James Monore token & Merc pendant?

look up gasoline station premiums, that may help. I remember the aluminum tokens came out first, you would get one for each fill-up, then they offered the "Premium" set in brass that you could buy, without buying the gas, but I would have to say, from the late 60's to early 70's..........NGE P.S. does anyone remember " Gold Bell or S&H green stamps"? I worked at a station that gave them out, I think it was a Purple Martin station.
