A trip along California's coastline is never disappointing, but things did NOT work out as I had planned, for a number of reasons...

This is the coastal plateau, above the cove which is just a short, easy walk from the Pacific Coast Highway.

It was just too far down the treacherous cliffside for me to take the risk.
Nowhere, in any informative literature was I advised of this! Disappointed!

So, I sent my alter ego, in my stead! ;D
If you look closely at the pic, there is a red spot near the center, down on the rocky beach.
THAT, is my kid, way down there!

But it is always very pretty, along this part of rugged coastline!

This old bus has been converted to a gas station snack bar area, in one of the Big Sur settlements.
There is also a very nice restaurant and lounge there.

And this is the creek, behind the motel/restaurant/gas station complex.

Oh... he DID drag a couple chunks of jade up the cliff for me...

Hello TT,

There were many beautiful places along the route of our trip, but I wasn't the pilot, and they pretty much whizzed by at hi-speed! These blasted digital cameras just don't shoot quickly like the old film cameras that can be cocked and ready for you to pull the trigger.

The bus was at our stop, so I couldn't pass it up!
It is neato...

I had a bigger one, many years ago.
Bought it for cash from some Okies in Bakersfield just a week before Christmas.
They were in the process of converting it, and were very happy to have some needed cash at Christmas.

I'll tell you, TT... IMO an old bus is far from a substitute for a motorhome.
They are much heavier built. Far more than is needed for MH use.
I used mine on some prospecting ventures, way back then, but traded it off for a pickup truck quickly.

Just can't afford to do much traveling nowadays. The coastal trip was a rare one. Took a MD, but didn't even turn it on. Sure would have liked to, but I was neither the pilot, or captain of the ship!

Cambria is the closest jadeite for me. We have some chrysoprase nearby I'll go looking for.
I'm looking for stuff to try on my new cabbing machine.
