Jacksboro/Lafollette, TN area???

Talking with a nice local landowner that pretty much gives me open permission on any of his land here in Upstate, SC today, and he mentioned that he didn't know if I'd be interested, but he owns 22,000 acres in the Jacksboro/Lafollette, TN area? Said something about it being a coal mining area and such...I don't know ANYTHING about the area or it's history and didn't know what kind of activity, if any was there...I'm sure in 22,000 acres, there's something to find...but it would be a weekend+ trip to check it out. Thanks for any imput from those that know the area.

I'me not from your area, but if there were coal mines, they probably had miners housing, & probably a company store, HH, & good luck.
We had all the above in my area.

Greg I live in upstate SC. Would the gentleman you talked to live in Walhalla SC? I live in West Union SC sounds like I may know some of the family. Where do you live?

i know this post is over 4 years old but i live near the jacksboro/lafollette area i know there was a small but significant amount of civil war activity in the area did you ever go check out the property
