Talking with a nice local landowner that pretty much gives me open permission on any of his land here in Upstate, SC today, and he mentioned that he didn't know if I'd be interested, but he owns 22,000 acres in the Jacksboro/Lafollette, TN area? Said something about it being a coal mining area and such...I don't know ANYTHING about the area or it's history and didn't know what kind of activity, if any was there...I'm sure in 22,000 acres, there's something to find...but it would be a weekend+ trip to check it out. Thanks for any imput from those that know the area.

Be forewarned, much of local land owned or controlled by Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency and may not be accessible for MD'ing. I live in La Follette and offer my help in any way I can. Do you own an ATV? It will be a great help accessing sites. I have old topo's and can locate a few old homesites if interested. Let me know if I can be of assistance to you.

Here's a pic of La Follette (circa1887), This is the present day downtown area and you are looking at Big Creek Gap where CW cannon emplacements were and troops were stationed
