guess carrying a small pocket knife --for nail cleaning -- tobacco plug cutting---apple / orange peeling --- pipe bowl scraping--- was a fairly common southern culture thing back then come to think of it ---packing a pocket knife is getting to be less common now with all the security spots around these days (too much of a hassle) --for years I carried a buck folder in a upside down holster --so once you hit the snap to open it ---it dropped right in your hand -- had it tuned so I could "flick" open it one handed if need be. --- it was my "good freind" in many strange and sometimes dangerous places as I travelled the world. --- saved my hide a couple times from bad sorts. they did not want to try to rob me once the blade was in hand. --- Ivan
