I've Lost my Marbles! But found a Pony!

It sure seems like it has been a while since my last post. Or I am just getting old and don't really remember:icon_scratch:.. Oh well, we finally got out and got to some serious dirt slinging:headbang:

Don and I started out where we found the double eagle flask last season( my avatar). Just so happens that they bulldozed the houses and tore up the garage foundation floors so we were able to find a couple more pits that were under there. Started out looking like some great pit dirt and found a few pieces of broken pottery and shards of bottles. Not too much left alive down below:BangHead: But you know us, we are persistent people and China can't be too far away right? Down around 6 feet or so Don was finally able to pull out a cool Gin bottle from London. That was about it for this pit. So we moved on down the dirt path and started another one. Got down again to about the 6 foot level and finally was able to find a decent druggist bottle and a straight sided coke with C.S. Barnes on the front and Coca Cola on the base. Kinda cool, but we still were trying to find a WOW bottle:tongue3:

Don was plugging away at what we thought was a trash pit, but it did have some tell tale signs of a privy with the bones and pottery pieces when he flopped out a really cool Pony Squat Blob Soda. The only embossing was a large letter T on the face. Not sure who made this one. It was our first Pony Blob so that is great stuff. Hinge mold too, so that would date it to around mid 1880's at the latest. At the corner of the one pit was where the "dump zone" was at and all of these marbles made their way down. We found several small doll house type plates and cups as well. Must have had a fight between a brother and sister and they tossed each others' goodies down the toilet! I thought the best one out of the bunch was the clay marble with the blue swirls. All in all they were not loaded pits by any means but we were able to snag a couple keepers to talk about until the next time out. Soon I hope... Good luck out there and be safe! jgas
