I've fired my coin dealer!

Hello.
Today I visited my favorite coin dealer. I exclusively buy silver rounds and wheat bags from him/them.
This day I wanted another bag, (5000), of wheat cents to search. Upon entering store, I noticed two new faces, introduced myself and ask for the boss who I know. I was told the boss/owner was on phone.
No biggie, I'll see him next time I thought.
So one of the new guys gets a bag of wheats, sets it on counter and asks me to wait for the boss. No problem, gave me time to look around and talk coins w the newbs.
10 minutes pass and now I'm ready to go, so I say I'm running outta time.
The newb says ok, lets do business. That'll be $234. WHAT!!!
I told him the last bag I recently purchased was $185. Why the increase?
He goes to boss, returned and stands with the $234 price. Now I'm pissed and told him so.
I didn't even view/hear the boss/owner throughout? I head for the door and the newb has the nerve to say "hope to see you soon". I nearly jumped the counter to get at him. ;)
I just found my previous $185 receipt. So yea, he will see me tomorrow, just to prove a point!
No more business though.
Thanks for listening to my rant...
Peace ✌

Id grab that bag of Wheaties, Throw it back at him and yell "5000 Pick-up" !

Yup. It is disappointing when a good thing comes to an abrupt end.

How have your finds been in previous bags?
Do you have any other source?

$185 was a great deal if the coins were truly unsearched, sorry to hear about good things coming to an end... My advice would be let it be, try back in a month, maybe the guy won't be there anymore.

Thanks all.
I forgot to mention that I was previously "promised" a price of $185 per single bag and $170 per if I purchase 3.
Finds in the bags have been interesting. Many Indians, non spectacular, a lone silver Brazilian dime. The wheat's thought have been good. They've nearly replaced my former collection w better examples.
Still lookin' for the elusive 1909s VDB. ;)
Oh, also got a near mint state 1931D. If only an S.
After 7yrs of dealing with him/them, I thought I would have been treated better?
Peace ✌

Yes, if they promised that price that is all different!:laughing7:

Good for you. Sometimes, Money Talks. Your repeat business is worth more than the upcharge of a single bag...

Cincy,
Your original post read like your deal was with the boss.
Once you talk to him, I doubt he'll welsh on the $185 previous understanding in the absence of some significant change in the market or his business. The 'rookies' may have just been 'following orders' for 'walk ins'.
Don...

Sounds like you had a great bag gig going! You could search them, then easily flip the rest on eBay for a small profit. I'd buy bags all day long at $170-185! Hope it works out.

oh c'mon, he only upped the charge from 3.7 cents per coin to 4.7 cents per coin ;)

Oh C'MON!, indeed.
That's 49 extra bucks per bag I'd normally spend on more coinage, silver, gold, detecting equipment, gas, bills, food... ;)
Peace ✌
