I've been sick for a week but this made me happy!

The last five days haven't been able to move had a fever almost like the flu but my doctor said it was a viral infection. What about this bracelet and ring at a yard sale about two weeks ago. Made out of Ivory. Paid a dollar for the pair. Then sold them today for $130. Maybe could've got a little more of them But I'm happy with what I got. Kind of makes me feel little better too after having such a crappy week!

What kind of Ivory was it? All Ivory isn't created equal!

You should learn the differences! Your pieces if made of 1 type of Ivory might might be worth $100 & if it's another kind of Ivory be worth $300 or more! If you are going to buy & sell it you should know the differences! How do you know they were indeed ivory if you don't know what kind of ivory it was? Could have been faux ivory as some of it is very convincing!

It was real, but it weighted half of what another one just like it weighted. It was 55 grams for the weight. But I paid $1 for it and $130 was going to pay my dr bill that I had from earlier. One that looked just like it sold for $300 but the weight was 107 grams.

I don't discount that it is real but how do you know that for 100% sure is my question? Some people believe that the only real true ivory is from West African elephants (the hardest ivory BTW) but ivory can come from east African elephants, whales, tusks of walruses, horns of rhino's & so on. East African elephant & Asian elephant type ivory is much more commonly used in places like east Africa & India + is much easier to carve than west African ivory is.

Your pix make it look very much like west African ivory or else a faux celluloid type of fake ivory. I can see grain (the angled cross grain) that real west African ivory always has but so does some faux ivory it's just not as tiny of a cross grain as the real stuff.

Well I guess if the guys not happy with it they can always send it back. He had put 4 offers on the thing and then finally we agreed to the price he wanted me to ship to China! I told US only and shipped to New York so if he doesn't want it he has the option to send it back.

Nobody has said anything about eBay ivory policy. I have avoided buying ivory because eBay will pull your listing. It was a few years ago so I'm not clear on the details anymore, but ivory and empty Cuban cigar boxes have been a problem for me. Actually I sold the box on the 2nd try, with a disclaimer. The ivory jewelry was not eBay-ed.

You have to listed as faux ivory. Then when somebody emails me asking if it's real or fake or whatever but I just have to tell him what it is. If you look up Faux ivory a lot of it is the real deal. But that is the only way you can sell it. Or as bone.

Hmm then shouldn't the listing be worded as "faux" ivory (with the quotes). That's what I'd do as it implies you're not being serious about it being faux. Or that your not completely sure & it might not be faux. Or else it is not faux at all & you know it, either way it catches the shoppers eye & lets them know somethings up & to ask a you question about the authenticity.

Maybe you could even have a wink in your title, like this ;-). If you could rotate it, I am not that computer savvy, it might even help.
